Allegro ma non troppo Andantino
Adagio - Allego
Rondo, allegro assai
The Sonata Classica is of an average difficulty. The second part, the Andantino, is simple, but the other parts need some pianistic skill.
The music, performed by Harry Koopman, is on CD 3, and on Youtube:
Initially the first part, allegro ma non troppo started as a musical little joke, meant as a present for a baby-girl. The intention was to write a short piece based on the rhythm of her name, in different styles: 8 bars in Chopin-style, 8 bars jazzy and 8 bars in Mozart-style. However, the 8 bars Mozart-style grew and grew and in the end it became a complete composition of considerable length. This brought on the idea to make an attempt at writing a real sonata with this piece as first part.
The andantino, originally written for 3 flutes, was remodeled for the piano.
For the last part the Rondo allegro assai I used an existing work that I wrote long ago for the newly restored 18th century table-piano of friends.
